Shri Vaishno Devi Chalisa is a highly sacred and devotional hymn dedicated to Vaishno Devi, who resides in the holy Trikuta Mountains of Jammu and Kashmir. This Chalisa beautifully glorifies the divine form of the Mother Goddess, her celestial manifestations, and her infinite compassion for devotees. It narrates the divine story of her incarnation in Treta Yuga, where she was born in the house of Ratnakar and performed intense penance to attain Lord Shri Ram. As per divine will, she later manifested as the awakened goddess in Kaliyuga to bless and protect her devotees. The Chalisa also describes several sacred legends associated with the Goddess, including the sacred feast (bhandara) at devotee Shridhar’s home, the emergence of the holy Banganga river, the significance of Charan Paduka, her nine-month stay in the Ardhkuwari cave, and the ultimate liberation of the arrogant demon Bhairavnath, whom she also forgave. These divine episodes highlight her compassion, strength, and motherly love for her devotees.
