The aarti "Jai Kashyap Nandan" is a magnificent prayer addressed to Lord Surya (the Sun God), who is the son of Sage Kashyapa and Mother Aditi (Aditi-Nandan). Recognized in Vedic scriptures as the only "Pratyaksha Deva" (visibly manifest God) in the cosmos, Lord Surya is the ultimate source of light, life, energy, and cosmic order. The hymn begins by honoring Him as the dispeller of darkness across all three worlds (Tribhuvan-Timir-Nikandan) and a soothing presence like sandalwood paste upon the devotee's heart.

The imagery depicted in the verses describes Lord Surya riding a divine chariot drawn by seven horses (Sapt-Ashvarath), representing the seven colors of light or the seven days of the week, controlled by a single wheel. He is revered as Savita—the energizer of all noble deeds—who blossoms lotuses, cures the three types of worldly afflictions (Adhyatmika, Adhibhautika, Adhidaivika), and purifies mental impurities (Manas-Mal-Hari).
