The Aarti "Aisi Aarti Ram Raghubeer Ki Karahi Mana" is a masterpiece of spiritual philosophy and devotion composed by the revered saint-poet Goswami Tulsidas Ji. Unlike conventional ritualistic offerings, Tulsidas Ji presents a profound allegorical and Vedantic Aarti performed not merely with physical lamps, but with the inner elements of consciousness, wisdom, and selfless love. Worshiping Lord Shri Ram through this hymn cleanses the mind of worldly duality (Dukhadund) and bestows the experience of Anandagahana—the dense, supreme bliss of the Divine.
The verses beautifully weave deep Vedantic concepts into devotional symbolism:
1. Internal Incense (Dhupa): Recognizing Lord Hari as omnipresent in all moving and non-moving beings (Achara Chara Roopa) and surrendering all subtle desires (Basana) acts as the divine incense.
2. Inner Lamp of Self-Awareness (Deepa): The lamp of self-knowledge (Nijabodh) burns away the deep darkness of anger (Koha), pride (Mada), delusion (Moha), and dissolves the rigid egoistic tendencies of the mind.
3. Pure Devotional Food (Naivedya) & Betel Leaf (Tambula): Clean, transparent, and intense spiritual love serves as the ultimate offering to satisfy Shri Ram. The betel leaf of divine love eradicates the painful seeds of worldly desires and doubts.
4. Wick of Actions & Illuminating Light (Neeranjanam): Good and bad deeds serve as ghee, ten senses act as wicks, and the fire of renunciation (Tyaga) lights up Satoguna (purity). The combined illumination of devotion (Bhakti), dispassion (Vairagya), and spiritual science (Vijnana) is offered to the Lord who resides in the universe.
5. Resting Place of the Soul: In the immaculate bedchamber of a purified heart, a comfortable bed of peace is prepared for Lord Ram to rest, served by attendants like forgiveness (Kshama) and compassion (Karuna). Where Shri Ram resides, the illusions and duality of Maya vanish completely.
Sages like Sanat Kumars, Vedas, Sheshnaag, Lord Shiva, Narada, and all truth-realized seers remain perpetually absorbed in this inner Aarti. Tulsidas Ji concludes that whoever performs this spiritual Aarti with a pure mind is liberated from all worldly impurities and crosses the ocean of samsara.
