This is a magnificent history from ancient times. Lord Shri Ramachandra went into exile for fourteen years and began residing in Panchavati along with Mother Sita and his loyal brother Lakshmana. While they were staying there, the demon king Ravana, out of utter arrogance and foolishness, abducted Lord Ram's ascetic wife, Sita. Lord Rama became deeply overwhelmed by the sudden grief of separation and began wandering aimlessly through the dense forest in search of Sita. Moving forward, he met the noble bird Jatayu, whose life span had ended, and later destroyed the terrifying demon named Kabandha inside the forest. Moving further, his sacred friendship was established with Sugriva, following which a massive army of vanaras (monkeys) gathered for Lord Ram's cause.

It is incredibly deep and filled with highly dangerous aquatic monsters. I do not see any easy means by which we can cross this obstacle effortlessly.'

Lakshmana folded his hands and replied—O Maharaja! You are indeed the primeval deity (Adidev), the ancient spirit (Puranapurusha), and the Supreme Lord of all beings. What can possibly be hidden from Your cosmic vision? Right near this island, a highly advanced ancient seer named Sage Bakadalbhya resides. His holy hermitage is located at a short distance of half a yojana from here. O pride of the Raghu lineage! Let us approach that ancient saint and seek the definitive remedy from him.

Hearing Lakshmana's highly intelligent words, Lord Ramachandra immediately went to meet the great sage Bakadalbhya. Reaching the hermitage, Lord Ram bowed his head and offered his respectful prostrations to the seer. The advanced sage instantly recognized that this was none other than the Supreme Lord Purushottama Himself, who had assumed a mortal body for a divine cosmic purpose. Becoming intensely joyful at their arrival, the great sage asked—'O Shri Ram! What is the reason for Your auspicious arrival at my humble hermitage?' Lord Ram replied—O Brahman! By your divine grace, I have arrived at the shores of the ocean along with my army to conquer Lanka and destroy the demons. O holy seer! Please suggest the absolute remedy by which we can successfully cross this ocean. Please cast your merciful grace upon me.

Any human being who performs this fast with this exact scriptural method obtains absolute victory in this material world, and their spiritual position in the next world becomes eternal and inexhaustible.
